Graphite drawing is perhaps my favorite medium, it is an art form of it’s own, but I also start all paintings with a complete graphite drawing. I use a range of graphite pencils, beginning with a very hard graphite, (2H). When using a graphite drawing to begin a painting, I must then transfer the drawing to watercolor paper in order to paint.
